Running a small guesthouse on an island means no two days are ever the same—and this past week was proof of that!
Our second guest arrived, a traveler from France with a deep love for the ocean and diving. From the moment he checked in, he spent most of his time by the "calm beach" just steps from our home, soaking in the views and enjoying the sea breeze. He also joined us for two trolling trips, hoping to reel in a big catch. Unfortunately, the ocean had other plans, and despite our best efforts, the fish just weren’t biting. But hey, that’s all part of the adventure, right?
Not long after, we welcomed two more guests—this time on a work trip for an assignment with the Maldives Resilient Reefs, a non-profit organisation focused on marine and environmental conservation in the Maldives.
Suddenly, things got a little crazy in the kitchen as we tried to get breakfast ready for everyone.
One little hiccup—we forgot to confirm if one of our guests was vegetarian. 😬 Given that we’re on an island, grabbing last-minute ingredients isn’t as simple as running down to the store. Sometimes, things have to be planned in advance. So there we were, scrambling to adjust the meal while keeping everything running smoothly. A bit of a hectic moment, but in the end, we made it work!
Despite the little challenges, it was an amazing few days of great conversations, Maldives ocean adventures, and new connections. Whether it’s a guest chasing waves, trying their luck at fishing, or working to protect the reefs and our environment, we love that our space brings together people from all walks of life.
Here’s to more stories, more guests, and maybe (just maybe) actually catching some fish next time! 🎣🏝️✨
