Our Story
This is our family home, built on a lifelong love for the islands and the ocean. In the 80s, our family travelled across the Maldives, exploring its many atolls, meeting incredible people, and forming a deep connection with island life. We wanted to create a home away from home. A place where you can experience Maldivian hospitality. Here, you’re not just a visitor—you’re part of our community, woven into the everyday life of the island.
Laamu & Gan
Laamu Atoll, with 82 small islands, historically known as Haddhunmathi, has deep cultural and historical significance in the Maldives. The island Gan is also the largest natural island in the Maldives. Laamu Atoll was once home to thriving Buddhist communities, as evidenced by the ancient temple ruins and archaeological sites on Gan and the surrounding Islands. With the arrival of Islam in the 12th century, the atoll, like the rest of the Maldives, embraced the new faith, shaping the culture and traditions that exist today.

Our Place & Getting Here
Our home consists of two buildings, with one dedicated entirely to our guests, offering a private entrance, a cozy living room, and a co-working space. A spacious balcony connects directly to the living room and one of the corner rooms, providing a relaxing spot to unwind.
Guests also have access to a small outdoor kitchenette for light cooking. Each 24 sq. ft. room features a work desk and a comfortable chair, along with a beautifully designed bathroom equipped with a shower, toilet, and amenities such as soap, shampoo, lotion, and fresh towels.
At the front, we have a shared garden that we’re incredibly proud of, filled with papaya, lemon, and mango trees, along with various native Maldivian fruit trees, creating a peaceful and refreshing space for our guests to enjoy.
Guests usually have their meals and spend time in the garden, making it a perfect spot to relax, connect with nature, and meet new people.
Nestled in a quiet neighborhood, you’ll be surrounded by friendly neighbors who are always happy to share a smile or a story. It’s the kind of place where life moves at a slower pace and you can truly unwind.
The beautiful Calm Beach is just a short stroll—only a block away—perfect for early morning swims, sunset walks, or simply soaking in the ocean breeze. Mukurimagu Harbour, the island’s main harbor, is just a 5-minute walk from the guesthouse. This will be were you catch the ferry to any nearby islands.
Getting around is easy too! There’s a bus stop just 3 minutes away, and the public bus service connects you to all the interlinked islands in the atoll. We also provide bicycles and there is also a scooter available for rent.
Whether you’re looking to explore, meet locals, or just take in the laid-back rhythm of island life, our neighborhood offers the perfect starting point.
Getting Around
There is a public bus that goes around all the interconnected islands (FONADHOO / KADHDHOO (Airport) / MAANDHOO / GAN).
There’s a ferry service that connects to other islands within the atoll, and another that travels to Thaa Atoll. If you’d like to explore beyond our island, we’re happy to help arrange transportation. Just keep in mind that return trips may not be available on the same day, so it’s important to plan your transit and accommodations.
